Driving Miss Daisy
MY THREE SONS, VOL. 1
Monday, 12/19 - Kevin turns 16. The state of Oregon grants Kevin his driver's license at 4:00 p.m.
Tuesday, 12/20 - Kevin drives our mini-van, and hits a Ford Explorer while attempting to cross a lane of traffic into a McDonald's parking lot at 9:00 a.m.
He never did get that Egg McMuffin he was craving.
Lessons learned:
1. Know your route. Merely "hoping that you'll find it" is a poor strategy when navigating a vehicle.
2. Look before moving into another lane - even if it means you might miss a turn. No need to fear, the breakfast sandwich will wait for your arrival.
3. While getting your driver's license on the first try is a feat worthy of bragging, staying accident-free for 17 hours is not.

4 Comments:
Well, I failed my permit test the first time I took it and had issues taking my driving test the first time (the horn in my dad's truck didn't work so I had to come back a week later). So, I guess my point is that we're all due for some driving mistakes on some level. Still, 17 hours!!!

wow sam. . .I think thats pretty much the worst (and funniest) story I've heard in a while. At the least I can give my parents THIS story when they whine about how bad of a driver I am. . .

Having one more reason to make fun of your own children... Priceless.

Sammy...I thought I was bad. Took me 6 weeks before I almost drove off the cliff going over Vail pass, and I thought that was bad. 17 HOURS!!!! What happened to drivers education, looking in all directions? Do they not teach that anymore? Did they do away with that since I was in school. Oh wait, that's right, har har har, I'M STILL IN SCHOOL!! All I have to say I'm so sorry for is two words...insurance company
