American Gladiators Rule!

I have one more day of working with summer conferences. This is my fifth summer, and I'm glad to be leaving this part of my job. I will be working full-time with the university's speech program, enjoying the summer with my family, and living a healthier life.

The best part of my summer position: Student workers who serve the conference guests.
*** While I won't miss my 70-hour work weeks, I will miss the two students who grew moustaches because they thought it was funny.
*** While I won't miss having only two days off in July, I will miss hearing squeals of joy when they find cool things in dorm rooms (such as $8.00, bloody sheets, or a blue man-thong).
*** While I won't miss an office that is 85 degrees, I will miss their sense of fun and the regular updates of their lives.

So, to the American Gladiators of the university: It's been fun. It's been real. And with you, it's been real fun.

Warm fuzzies, Sam!!!! We'll miss you, too, speaking as the one conference worker who regularly reads your blog.
