Southern Comfort

In two days, those of us in Oregon will experience a sad day - our dear friend Comfort is leaving. Originally from Nigeria, Comfort graduated in May from Pacific U, and is now moving to Mississippi to start grad school in economics. So, in honor of a good friend who I will greatly miss, I present:

THE TOP TEN THINGS ABOUT COMFORT

10. Her new hair - and thanks to Comfort for clarifying that they're extensions and that her hair did NOT magically grow 15 inches in two weeks.

9. Her calm "yes," when people ask, "So, your name is Comfort?"

8. Her ability to get people to dance (solo) in front of others.

7. Her awards in forensics - not many people can claim numerous top places in their first year of speech.

6. Her methods of telling you something secret/important - either with a note or in a whisper, even if nobody is around.

5. Her singing - belting out that big pop song last summer was a highlight for me.

4. Her directness and tact. I admire Comfort for being up-front with people, and still showing respect.

3. Her sincerity - no games.

2. Her sense of integrity - she is who she claims to be.

1. Her friendship - Comfort shows that she cares.

So, move over, Raymond, 'cuz everybody loves Comfort! And it is with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat that I wish you the best. I look forward to hearing about your great success as you move toward making your dream a reality.
