Going, Going, Gone

The yard sale was a huge success. At 2:00 on Saturday, we didn't have much left, and made signs stating that it was all free. Six hours later we had very little left.

Here are the top three awards that we would like to give to some of the people attending our sale.

"I CAN'T GET NO SATISFACTION" AWARD
During the "free stuff" time on Saturday afternoon, a man was carrying eight of my shirts. I asked for the hangers. He was surprised I wanted the hangers back, since they were with the shirts in the free area. He told his wife I wanted the hangers, and she thought that was unreasonable. I helped him take the shirts off of the hangers.

"GOOD THING I DON'T HAVE KIDS" AWARD
A man was looking at a book on parenting defiant teens. He mentioned that he would get if for a friend who has a teen that is autistic. Oma told him that autism and defiance are very different concepts. The man thought that the book would be helpful. So, he gave us a quarter.

"I'M AS RACIST AS TRACI'S GRANDFATHER" AWARD
A woman asked me if I would take a dollar for a $1.50 shirt. Since she wasn't mean, I said yes. A little later, she tells Traci, "I bought this shirt from your husband and I jewed him down 50 cents."
(NOTE: I thought that when Traci's grandfather died, I wouldn't hear extremely offensive speech. I was wrong.)

Wow. 60 shirts?? My grandfather referred to "colored" music one time...Ouch. Usually he's very nice.
Huh, maybe if we'd had a book on parenting defiant teens my brother's autism would be cured...
