Pursuing The Trivial - And Failing
I haven't played Trivial Pursuit for a long time.
You know those things you aren't good at? You tend to avoid them.
That's Trivial Pursuit and me.
We're in Washington, near Canadia (which I like to call it, hoping to irritate others), on vacation.
There are twelve of us: Our family of five; Traci's mom, Christina, and Jules; Traci's brother, his girlfriend, and her two boys.
We're near Bellingham for a few nights, and then we'll go up to Whistler (Canadia), where there is lots of snow.
Tonight's game was Trivial Pursuit, 90's edition. Like the standard TP, to win, you need six pieces, different colors, representing different areas of trivia. Overall, we didn't answer many questions correctly - though we were better at answering other's questions than our own. I got stuck on the "technology" area - which isn't surprising since I don't know much about tech today. I missed at least ten consecutive questions on 90's tech.
We decided that to win the game, you only need two colored pieces -not six. Kevin pulled off a win by knowing that a phrase that had something to do with a spoon (I can't remember it - that's how good I am) was from the movie The Matrix.
The game lasted over two hours. The scars will last a lifetime.

You missed questions on 90s tech?!?! We're going to have to spend some time boning up on your technology skills when we get back to OR next month. You should have used a lifeline and called me. Then you would have won for sure!

um I would just like to say that my mom once knew a lady who lived near Bellingham. She turned out to be an international baby seller. Like she sold babies for a living. She was on 20/20 and everything. WATCH your KIDS SAM!!! Also, what questions did you miss on '90's tech?
Question: "What was the only technological advancement in the '90's?"
Answer: The Walkman.

We once played TP with a friend who earned all six pieces during one turn, which we thought was great because the blasted game only lasted about ten minutes. Cards or Cranium... now we're talking fun!

Last Christmas my dad bought the DVD TP and we all protested and he said it was his game and he wanted it for Christmas. Yes, he went shopping for his own gifts and had us wrap it.
After Christmas he had us play it and we sat in front of the TV playing it for over 5 hours straight. He wouldn't let us quit but no one could win. I. felt. your. pain.

so, Sam,
what happened? did you forget to bring the dictionary for, oc, the Dictionary Game?
Remember, your favorite definition included the "blue monster with yellow spots" phrase or "rayon?"
Dad and I are laughing right now at the fun memory!
