Orange And Blue

After I got home from the speech tournament this evening, the following conversation ensued.

CAST OF CHARACTERS
K = Kevin
S = me
GF = Kevin's girlfriend

K: Dad, whoa, what are you wearing?

S: The suit that I wore to the tournament today.

(Kevin examines the tie closely)

K: Wow - that's - yeah - lots of orange and blue.

S: Yes, a pinstripe suit with a checkered shirt and a swirlish tie is pretty busy. A man at the tournament yanked my tie today and said, "Great tie, Sam, it's so you." And I thought, "You barely know me, kinda like I barely know you, except for the fact that you're an alcoholic."

K: (in a sarcastic tone, to GF, as they are walking away from me): My dad is so nice.

GF: (in a sincere tone, to Kevin, as they keep walking away): I think he's nice.

In other news, breadsticks at The Olive Garden are still outstanding.

Your son is so loving. You should trade him for his nice girlfriend.

And thanks for the breadsticks. MMM...

That sounds like too much color. I just like the color of skin. Can you show me some of yours?

I thought it was witty. You don't need to be nice if you are witty. That's my motto, or at least it should be. Then I wouldn't have to feel bad about not being nice, because I would know that I am witty.
