Black Friday

Fred Meyer (local department store, incorrectly called Fred Meyers by many) opened at 5am.
Traci, Kevin, and I arrived at 5:05am. The parking lot was full. The store was a zoo.
People were quite excited about the free donut holes, juice, and coffee. We weren't.

Trying her best to enjoy a crowded shopping experience, Traci had a bit of conversation with a store employee in the games section.

SE (store employee) was holding a stack of twelve Candyland games, which he had just taken down from an upper shelf.

T: You have a lot of games.

SE: Yeah, I'm looking for a place to put them.

T: Ooh - you can put them up there - up high, on top of that other stack of Candyland games.

SE: I just took them down from there--

T: Yeah--

SE: --to put them lower--

T: Right, I got--

SE: --so people can reach them.

T: --it. Yeah.

A few minutes later, we see the same employee, on a tall ladder thing, getting down some other items. His job this morning must have been "merchandise lowerer." Traci tried to continue their conversation.

T: Hey, it's the Candyland game guy, lowering more items, so people can reach them.

SE does not verbally responds. He shoots her a look that says "if I wasn't in store employee mode right now, I'd shoot you a mean look, but this is the best I can do."

Six hours later we returned home.

Three hours after that, I woke up.

In other news, our local Hillsboro newspaper had an article this week about Black Friday. The lead paragraph started out like this:
"The day after Thanksgiving is know as Black Friday. It's known as a big shopping day. It's also known as the day after Thanksgiving."
Sounds like our university newspaper staff will have no trouble getting jobs where they get paid for their craptastic writing skills.

I think Frankie is doing some free lance writing for the Hillsboro newspaper. Sounds like the News-Times is better than the Hillsboro paper and the Index...put together.

And I have to agree with T-Funny...Traci is my hero.

I too am confused. Was it a dream or did you take a nap? Also, my favorite part was the newspaper. I think the journalist must have worked for the INDEX at one point. But you know all about that. Doncha Steve?

Sorry for the lack of clarity regarding sleep.
It was all real.
After the shopping marathon, I took a 3-hr nap.

And, yes, Traci is aweso.
