Winning The Stare-Down

ONE MORE SHOPPING CONVERSATION

Location: In the check-out line at Marshall's (which is one of the top three department stores in the world)

Woman: (loudly, to her son, who is about 10 feet away ) Go run back there and grab those slippers we were looking at.

Her Son: (also loudly) I don't wanna go over there.

W: Then how 'bout you come over here so I can slap your face?!?

Her Son walks away - not in the direction of the slippers.

W: (to me, still kinda loud) Kids don't know how to mind - no matter how you talk to 'em, eh?

FondlySam: Well - I don't know - but I don't talk to my kids like that.

Woman stares/glares at me. Apparently, I was supposed to agree with her. I look right at her with my best "Jim from The Office" face until she looks away from me.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
(Well, a few days ago, actually)

Jules started eating a piece of pizza, which she didn't like.
She said, "This pizza is ugly."

I've seen that face before. It's the same face you make at Plakbar until he walks away too.

That was rude of Jules to refer to you as an ugly pizza. You are neither a pizza nor ug... wait... nevermind...

That was funnier in my head, but I'll leave it non-the-less

Yea for shutting down unpleasant parents. I once saw a woman hit her son (he was like 12) with an empty pop bottle on the head while calling him stupid at Disneyland. So much for the happiest place on earth...But I wasn't yet exposed to Jim's appropriate face so I couldn't properly respond.

Maybe Jules was referring to the person who made the pizza. You know there's those people who think pets resemble their owners?
