Plellen Pleller Would Not Be Proud

There was a break in the rainy weather this past weekend and I took the kids to the pool. While we were there, a group of five people ranging in age from 8-20ish were playing a game they called "Helen Keller."

One person was "it" (aka Helen) and had to close his/her eyes and try to tag another player. The game is similar to Marco Polo, but without the annoying calling and answering aspect.

Two notable parts of this game were:

(1) The name - The "it" uses his/her sense of hearing (which Helen K didn't have) to locate the other players.

(2) The oldest guy - At one point he told the lifeguard, "This game was more fun when I played with my friends in San Diego. We would go up to each other, and hit each other, and put a finger in their butt - you know, fun stuff."

Umm, no, I don't see how that version would be more fun.

IN OTHER NEWS
Traci and I shared our gift certificates (from the previous post) with each other. She took me to dinner and we still have a $22 credit. I took her to the bookstore where we bought a game - the gift card paid for a third of it.

This reminded me of all those fun Helen Keller jokes from high school.

Did you know that Helen Keller had a dollhouse in her backyard? Neither did she!
