Have A Seat

OVERHEARD, VOL. 3

Last night, Traci and I went to Costco. She wanted to show me some furniture, because our living room furniture is yucky and we have been talking about getting new furniture for-like-ever. (The navy leatherette reclining couch and the taupe futon just don't make a real nice set.) As usual when we shop for furniture, we made no purchases.

However, I was enlightened by what we observed in the Costco parking lot. In the car next to us, a couple had just arrived at their car, with a cart full of Costco goodies. (NOTE: Costco carts are X-large, to enable you to easily spend $200 without even noticing that you did.) The man was in the driver's seat of the car with the car running. The woman was at the back of the vehicle, unloading items into the vehicle. The man did not help the woman. I concluded that they were sharing the workload - her job was unloading the recent purchases while his job was warming up the vehicle.

Here's what I overheard:

Sound of radio coming from the vehicle as man sits.

No words are exchanged.

If I see him again, I will offer him a t-shirt that says, "I excel at sitting."

From what I gathered from the Clackamas tournament, I can name several debate teams that should get that shirt too since that's all they excel at...just sitting there. It's when they stand up and start talking that the wheels come off the wagon.
