A New Baby

Three years ago, we got a dog - a rat terrier that we named Wynnie. As it turns out, I don't like her, and she doesn't like me.

When I come home from work, she runs to the front door, but when she sees me, she turns around and walks away.

Almost every day I tell her that she is the worst dog in the world.

She is such a nuisance that, because of her, I have a general dislike for animals.

Here are just a few things she does that irritate me. Granted, some of these problems are due to a lack of training, but I still hate her.

1. When she goes outside to "make" (as my Grandma Frieda used to say), she takes her sweet time. In fact, she looks terrified to even walk outside if it's raining. This happens a lot.
2. When she has too much energy, she sprints around the house, up and down the stairs.
3. When I'm in the kitchen she gets right by my feet.
4. She begs for food.
5. When she runs away, she comes home.

So, having a dog has added some stress to our household, but I must admit that she serves a couple of useful functions, such as laying with one of the kids at night to help them get to sleep, and . . . umm . . . probably something else.

My family loves animals and, because I love them, we got a puppy today - a golden retriever.
