New Year's Resolution - Holding My Resolve

My New Year's resolution is to limit my intake of desserts and dessert-type foods with high sugar/fat content, including candy bars and donuts. The limit: 2 desserts per month.

I was inspired by my father, who stopped eating desserts on July 1, started to eat healthier, and exercised. He has lost about 35 pounds (I think). Although I don't want to lose 35 pounds, I do want to have more energy and I don't want to gain weight.

I originally thought that this resolution would be very challenging, particularly at forensics tournaments and restaurants. But, it hasn't been that bad. Tonight, I had my first dessert of the month - a slice of Costco double-layer chocolate cake. I scraped off the frosting, because it was too sweet. And while the cake was adequately moist, it was merely average. I need to be more strategic in choosing my second dessert of the month. If nothing better presents itself, I think I would be quite satisfied with a Heath bar. Or a Nestle Crunch. Or a 100 Grand bar. Or three chocolate chip cookies from McDonald's. Or some cookie dough...

Well, I for one am proud of you! As for increased energy, I think we've already seen evidence that your plan is working after the basketball game!

I think you are going to hell. Putting a limit on your desserts is like putting a limit on God. It is just blasphemy. I have never heard of such rubbish.

The hell with dessert. Drink lots of whiskey for energy. You are wasting your sugars. I prefer Scotch to triple choclate cake.
