Tammy Got A Job

Tonight, everyone's favorite team member, Comfort, hosted a dinner party for the forensics team and others. She did a fantastic job of preparing a gourmet meal and even planned some entertainment for us. Or rather, had us entertain ourselves by having people dance, individually, feeling awkward...but who can so "no" to Comfort? Nobody.

When I got home, Tammy (of the "Sam makes fun of my name" fame) had just stopped by. She said she had just finished her first day of work at the 7-11 convenience store in Cornelius ("Oregon's Family Town" - not), and thought I would appreciate the fact that several customers commented on her name. They said things like:

"Your nametag says your name is Tammy, but what's your real name? Noone would admit to having that name and working at 7-11. It's too typical."

"Oh, you're Tammy. My daughter-in-law is named Tammy and she's getting out of rehab soon. Have you been to rehab?"

"Tammy? My prediction is that you'll work here for about two weeks and then you'll say that you quit because you didn't get enough breaks for smoking. But you actually got fired, because you got caught stealing some gross Coors Light."

In my smug feelings of confirmation, all I could say was, "Oh," until Tammy asked me why my shirt was wet. I told her that my students nailed me with squirt guns. As she cackled and popped the top snap on her too-tight pegged jeans, she said, "So, we can see who the big loser is now."

Correct. Absolutely correct.
