Sign - The Correct Way

Traci and I signed lots of papers today to refinance our home mortgage. Overall, it was much more fun than I expected it to be, because:

* The woman at the title company did not introduce herself to us. Though she was pleasant, I'm guessing that she (a) already knew our names, since they were all over the documents, and (b) realized she would only spend about 30 minutes with us, so it didn't matter who we were.

* I understood most of the documents that we signed.

* Traci acted like her main job was to be a joke-maker.

* After signing about 6 documents, we were told that we were supposed to sign our names with our middle initials. So, we had to start over, and I added a "C" and Traci added an "M."

* I tried signing "Samuel" a couple of times, but quit after I spelled it incorrectly.

* One of the documents asked where we would like our mail sent - to our home address or another one (such as a PO box). We marked the correct box, but that was not good enough. We also had to sign this document - with middle initials. So, this document was treated with the same level of importance as the ones where we promised to pay back thousands of dollars, keep current with our property taxes and insurance, and accept severe punishment if we're late with a payment.

You should have just put a line through each place where it said "Samuel C. Mathies" and be like, "that is my signature. Please quit being discriminatory toward my line."
