Mildly Lemon-y

I'm pretty loyal to products I like. For example, Dawn dishsoap is great. It really does cut grease, which I like, because I hate to have greasy hands. I hate it a lot. And none of this fancy Dawn stuff - just the regular blue Dawn. I want no other dishsoap in my house. Ever.

I have several other strong preferences, but out of respect for my loyal Fondly, Sam readers, I won't bore you with them. The big news here is that I switched brands of toothpaste after many years. Well, not brands, really, because Crest rules - but there's a new Crest in town.

I discovered it when we visited my awesome parents in Wisconsin this summer. My mom had four samples of new flavors of Crest in our bathroom for us to try. So, I sampled them all, and found a winner.

1. Cinnamon - This was OK, but was a little much. A nice effort by Crest.

2. I can't remember the exact name of the second flavor - it was very minty. Again, too much. And in terms of a new flavor of toothpaste, Crest is busting out mint? Really?

3. Vanilla - That taste here reminded me of a cheap vanilla-scented candle that someone in your office gives you at Christmas, because she felt obligated to get you a gift (even though she hates you), and she was driving by the Dollar Store anyway, so it didn't take much effort. Crest failed with this one. Big time.

4. Lemon Ice - The winner. Not too much lemon. Just the right amount of ice (OK, I don't know what that means, but I think it's important to acknowledge the full name of the flavor).

So, no minty-fresh breath for me. I'm sticking with "an icy burst of lemon flavor" (as noted on my tube of toothpaste).

i recommend crest herbal mint. it's the greatest freshest crest in town. and the box has a scratch'n'sniff so that you can get a whiff of it before you buy it.

It's like lemonade. A hint of lemon on ice.

Nice choice.

Is it HARD lemon? If so, I'm in. Way to be a smart consumer. :-)

I think I am more concerned that your folks had 4 tube of tooth paste for you to try...who needs 4 flavors? Who opens them all at once? Who tries all 4? These and other of life's big questions await.

I agree, Crest rules, Aqua-fresh drools, My dentist always hands out Aqua-Fresh in his 'goody' bag. I keep the Toothbrush, Floss, and give the Aqua-fresh to my cousin. He has no taste in toothpaste, so it doesn't bother him.

REPLY FOR T-FUNNY:
I'm sorry that I wasn't more specific in mentioning that the four tubes of toothpaste were quite small - samples, really, if you will. I hope I didn't cause too much distress as you pose big questions about life.

Hey, Sam,
I had no idea that the 4-pack of sample Crest toothpastes so changed your life!
and, guess what? Lemon Ice had the same effect on me - it's my one and only toothpaste, too! (Guess the lemon doesn't fall very far from the tree, to paraphrase a wise old saying.)

Other big toothpaste news here in Fredonia, WisCONsin (population 1,213)is:
After 50+ years of using only the Original, Classic Colgate,
your dad has switched to - - -
Aquafresh ExtremE mint, after receiving a sample with the daily newspaper.

Oh, yes, just call our family "The Ones Impressed by Samples," although chocolate samples are my all-time favorites, oc!

And, BTW, if you still want to receive the poem I memorized in third grade, just let me know.

The autumn leaves are falling here, and Benny Joe, our redneck border collie tries to catch all of them, but thankfully not when he's on the garage roof, aka his latest naughty trick!
love, mom xoxo
