The Garden State

For those of you that have been wondering, but have been too shy/embarrassed to ask, here's an update of our garden in the back yard. (I'll save the front yard garden update for another time - can't be having too much excitement at once).

PEAS - Two inches tall. I'll be planting the second batch soon.

LETTUCE - Just up.

SPINACH - First batch is up - about an inch tall. Second batch of seeds were planted this evening.

KOHLRABI - Planted this evening.

SUNFLOWERS - About a dozen plants are up.

SWEET PEAS - My favorite flower - about a dozen plants are up - will plant the second batch soon.

PETUNIAS - Traci bought a flat of plants. I planted 47 last week, and they're looking good.

SLUGS - Jonas and I have picked up lots of dead ones in the past couple of weeks. They eat my plants, so I kill them.
(This may serve as a warning to all.)

When is it going to be salad night at the Mathies's house? Does steak grow on a vine by chance?

Well the bad news is that I basically won't eat anything that you're growing in your garden. The good news is that apparantly, that just might save my life. :-)

I will get you a bag of salt. You can lick it or pour it on slugs- fun for the whole family. Even Whiney, I mean Weenie, I mean...that dog of yours...the other one.
